On Friday 22nd June we held our Olympics Sports’ Day. Unfortunately due to torrential rain this was held in the PE hall of Parkhall College. The day began with a procession of a number of flags from different countries, in a manner in which we expect to see the countries in the Olympics. The races were then held with lots of cheering and excitement, several races had to be restarted as false starts were common.
After sports day the adults had a cup of tea and the children had crisps and juice which was sponsored by the Spar in Kells, (thanks once again to Michael McCosh).
The prize ceremony was then held for which a podium had been provided and official photographer, (thanks Mr Pope) was present. Everyone received a medal and certificate while special awards were given to those who came first, second and third in the races.
The cups and shields went to the following
The Maze Shield for helpfulness was awarded to James Fullerton and Gary Millar
The Fleck Crystal bowl for academic achievement in Key Satge I was awarded to Timothy McClure
The Dennison Cup for academic achievement in Key Stage II was awarded to Timothy Pope
The Steele Cup for best buddy was awarded to matthew Kernohan
The Lutton Music Cup was awarded to Grace Bailie
The Pope Cup for Key Stage I Sports was awarded to Timothy McClure
The Boyce Cup for Key Stage II Spots was awarded to Lauren Walshe
The Davison Shield for Swimming was awarded to Samuel Davison
The day was enjoyed by all and everyone went away tired and happy.
